Area of Deep Specialisation

The parenthood transition — our deepest area of clinical expertise.

67% of couples report significant relationship decline within three years of having a baby. This isn't failure — it's the most predictable, most under-supported transition in adult relational life. We have spent years building clinical depth in exactly this area, and it's where other practices consistently refer.

Who We Are?

Gabriel Carazo is an ACA-accredited Relationship Counsellor and Family Therapist with over a decade of clinical experience—and a unique specialisation that sets his practice apart.

Trained in Gottman Method Couples Therapy and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Gabriel helps couples break destructive cycles and reconnect. But what makes his approach different is his extensive expertise in father engagement and men's mental health.

As founder of RAD DADS—Australia's first council-funded father-specific program—and recognized as Victorian Father of the Year, Gabriel understands why good fathers disengage, what prevents men from seeking help, and how to create therapeutic environments where both partners actually engage.

His approach is warm, direct, and grounded in research—with a therapeutic style that's practical and action-oriented. Women choose his practice because he can reach their partners. Men engage because the work doesn't feel like pathologizing—it feels like working with someone who gets it.

Based in the Macedon Ranges, with telehealth available Australia-wide.

Supported Dads. Connected Families.

Fatherhood brings big changes — to identity, relationships, and emotional wellbeing. At Ranges Counselling, we offer counselling and coaching tailored to support dads at every stage, from pregnancy through to parenting.

Many dads want to be involved, informed, and emotionally present, but don’t always have the support they need. We help dads build insight, confidence, and practical skills so fatherhood feels more connected, manageable, and sustainable.

Dads often seek support for:

  • Stress, anxiety, low mood, or feeling overwhelmed

  • Anger or emotional overload

  • Adjusting to the realities of fatherhood

  • Building a secure, enjoyable bond with their child

  • Supporting a partner experiencing postnatal depression or anxiety

  • Parenting strategies and confidence

When dads are supported, their mental health, relationships, and family wellbeing are strengthened — benefiting the whole family.

We also offer nature-based counselling sessions for dads who feel more comfortable talking and reflecting outside of traditional clinical settings.

‘Our goal to assist you find innovative strategies to foster positive change. Our commitment centres around nurturing the growth and cultivation of respectful relationships which is critical for mental health, overall well-being, and resilience. ‘
